The Shop - Brand Photography Session

I’m so excited to be sharing this branding photoshoot done at The Shop in Latham, NY. I met owner Jessica Rae Shattuck when I started attending the monthly 518 Get Together meetings. Jessica was due for a website refresh and was looking for new images of the products she uses at her salon, as well as detail shots of the salon and its decor. With its light and airy feel and nods to all things vintage and the 70s, I knew this was going to be a fun shoot!

Eufora Hair Care recently redesigned their packaging, so my main focus was to shoot all of the hair care and products. I incorporated bits and bobs from around The Shop into the images so they felt unique to the salon, and not like product photos for the brand itself. A branding photoshoot is all about capturing the essence of your business, so the more unique your photos look and feel, the better. My favorite little props were the two gold swans that were Jessica’s grandmothers. A lot of the decor and style at The Shop is inspired by Jessica’s grandmother, and Jessica did a great job of weaving these elements throughout the salon while still making it feel fresh and modern.

Another favorite element was the green bench I used for the business card flat lay. This bench photographed beautifully, and I regret not using it for more images! Given the opportunity, I’ll make sure to feature it more in the next shoot!
