Pizza Food Photography for Specialty Brands
Pizza has been a food missing from my portfolio for a while, however I didn’t want to shoot just any cheese pizza. I wanted to style and shoot a pizza that felt luxurious and elevated, featuring specialty ingredients you won’t find at your neighborhood slice shop. Think boujee, rich, and editorial... but still undeniably pizza.
Inspiration finally struck after a dinner at Josie’s Table in Albany, NY where I ordered one of my favorites: prosciutto, burrata, and fig pizza. Sweet, salty, cheesy - it’s utter perfection. Pair it with a glass of chardonnay (my fave) and you have yourself an ideal dinner.
This homemade version features a sourdough discard crust and delicious ingredients from specialty food brands like Bonne Maman, Saratoga Olive Oil, and BelGioioso. The goal for this pizza photoshoot was to blend styled food photography with bold, editorial visuals—ideal for restaurants, cookbooks, social media, and packaging. As a food photographer, I love capturing elevated comfort food in ways that feel both fresh and luxurious.
One of the creative challenges I gave myself for this shoot was photographing the pizza from a 45º angle. Overhead pizza shots are a classic (and flat foods love a top-down angle), but I wanted to play with depth, dimension, and that golden afternoon light. The result? A warm, sunny, outdoor-inspired scene that feels as craveable as the pizza itself.
Adding more editorial-style comfort food to my portfolio has been a personal goal, and this shoot checked every box.
